How do I Calculate the magnitude of the plane's acceleration?

A pendulum has a length L = 1.08 m. It hangs straight down in a jet plane about to take off as shown by the dotted line in the figure. The jet accelerates uniformly, and during that time, the pendulum oscillates about the equilibrium position shown by the solid line, with D = 0.360 m. Calculate the magnitude of the plane's acceleration.How do I Calculate the magnitude of the plane's acceleration?I guess that D is the diameter of a circle formed by the movement of the bob, then its radius would be half that (0.180m) and the angle is:

胃 = tan鈦宦?0.180m / 1.08m)

= 9.46掳

Vertically:

ma = Tsin胃

Horizontally:

mg = Tcos胃

Dividing the first one by the second:

a / g = tan胃

a = gtan胃

= 9.80m/s虏tan9.46掳

= 1.63m/s虏

I had to hurry as time was running out for this question. Hope it helps.
