I need some help answering the following question. I really do not know the answer, so any help would be greatly appreciated:

Make sure that it is tight up against it and that they are level with one-another. if you are hand planing...work from middle out (with grain of course)...if using a self feeding plane, the hardest part is starting without putting a slight knick but not impossible if you feed flat and straight (use a large table BEFORE the plane to help feed straight to start...and always, plane in very very small increments. By the way, you should cut to length AFTER you plane, not before and then this is not an issue
