How early in advance can you book a plane ticket?

I'm trying to find the prices of plane tickets for summer 2010, and whenever i try sites like travelsupermarket they say they can't find a match or try a broader search. i've done broader searches but it still hasn't come up with anything. Just wondering if anyone knows where i can find early plane tickets online or do i have to go to a travel agent? Or is it too early to book a plane ticket for summer 2010?How early in advance can you book a plane ticket?Generally flight booking sites like expedia, etc.. are controlled by the availability of ticket price information, which is released to them by the airlines. Hope this helps. If you where looking for a charter airline eg. Thomas Cook , Thomson Airways , Monarch you could prob go to a travel agent now and book because charter airlines usually release seats about a year before hand , But if you where looking for Turkey with Goldtrail Holidays they use Onur Air and Turkish Airlines and release about 6 months before as well.
