What would happen if a professional sports team's plane crashed?

I know each league (NFL, NHL, etc.) has bylaws/rules that cover this. If a team plane were to crash and the team was lost in the crash, does anyone know exactly how they would conduct the replacement draft? it has happened to such a big team as Manchester United before. Most of the players died, some were so injured that they could never play again. Actually this unfortunate occurrence has happened twice in football. The first was in May 4, 1949 when the entire Torino F.C. team perished in a plane crash. At that time Torino was leading the Serie A standings with four games left to go. The team took a long time to recovery from the incident. On February 6, 1958 Manchester United was flying home from a game against Red Star Belgrade in the European Cup (now the UEFA Champions League) when the plane crashed on its third attempt to takeoff from a slush-covered runway at the Munich-Riem airport in Munich, West Germany. The plane stopped in Munich to refuel. Twenty-three of the 44 passengers on board the aircraft died in the disaster. So it has happended and both times it has devasted the team.
