How can you recreate a plane engine?

My brother is working on this thing called the Skyboard. It is like a flying surfboard. He wants to make a mini, but powerful, plane engine for it, perhaps solar or wind powered. Can it fly but be hybrid? Can it still work if it's flattened or made smaller? Please help him, my brother's waiting! How can you recreate a plane engine?http://www.ehow.com/how_4727494_jet-engi鈥?/a>

you might want to go smaller than this but... i work with big engines NOT tricked out surfboards

lemme know how it goes =]How can you recreate a plane engine? An interesting question here--but unfortunately, this is a question engineers and various scientists have been working on for years. Can an airplane fly powered by the sun? Most of the current craft are very experimental in nature and look a lot like gilders. Check out this page for examples: http://www.blazingwings.org/entry/top-12鈥?/a>

Even a small powered engine won't be very small. Reducing the size of an engine reduces its horsepower. You need a certain size of piston chamber to produce power. The smallest engines I know of are the Rotax line of engines, which can be found here: http://www.kodiakbs.com/. These are used for ultralight aircraft, and might work.

Then you've got the challenge of creating lift with a surfboard, but I'm sure your brother will work something out there! Best of luck. How can you recreate a plane engine?I can't, sorry.
