What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?

When I fly i get worried that the plane will crash during flight due to mechanical things. What are the reasons that I shouldn't worry about this? What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?Aside from statistics that show commercial air travel to be quite safe, I believe in letting life and fate unfold as it will. Just think, you could stay home due to fear of flying and die in a car accident. Then all of your survivors will say : "Gee, if she had only flown to _____ this week she would still be alive."

None of us know exactly when or how we will die. Even if you seclude yourself in your home from fear, there is always the rare chance that an intruder may enter and kill you or you may slip and break your neck in the shower. So, without being totally reckless (and there is nothing reckless about taking a commercial flight) you may as well enjoy your life and not let fear prevent you from having fun and adventure.

There will always be some unlucky people who die in air accidents and there will always be some very lucky people who win the $200 million lottery - but the chances of either of these scenarios happening to you are extremely remote. What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?
More commuter / cross country trains crash each year then airplanes. What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?Plane crashes are so rare. You have more chance to be killed in a car wreck. What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?
Well if you look at the statistics airplanes are safer than driving a car, you just hear about the airplanes because when it happens more people die at one time. so don't worryWhat are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?Planes are put together very well, you can see that by how few crashes there are. Things are engineered so that if one thing fails, the plane won't just go down in flames. Al long as the pilot is competent and the weather is good, it is very safe.
One of the most safest forms of travel is by air. One main reason for your fear is the fact that if you are in a plane and it does crash, the odds of your survival are nearly zero. Commercial planes are governed and must be maintained according to specific governmental guidelines and standards. Airline pilots and their crews are well educated and very capable of safely operating your aircraft that you are a passenger. Think of how many automobile accidents that happen daily in the US and now, ask yourself how many airline crashes were there today?

In the United States, there are in the area of three thousand planes in the skies at any given time.

The aircraft that you are flying in is constantly checked and maintained. The big fear that most folks have is the simple fact that air crashes are not usally survivable and are extremely destructive. Remember, if your plane goes done so too, does your pilot and his/her flight crew and trust me, they want to go home after work and see their families too.

I have personally flown for many years and yet, have I ever experienced any bad events other than a few times with air turbulances. I am a former paramedic and never had to go to a crash site, but many many times I have witnessed first - hand the destruction of both life and property from automobile accidents. I do not know of any commercial airline pilot who flies and drinks or flies under the influence of drugs. Now, if automobiles were this safe.

Relax and enjoy the flight, there are many folks in the scene and behind the scene whose interest is to see that your flight has high safety procedures...What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?
You are 344 times safer in an airliner than you are in your car, but you jump into a car daily without thinking about it, yes?
Don't worry about it one bit, im an aircraft expert and know for a fact that you are safer now because of some of the crashes in the past because they fix the problem so it doesn't happen again. You'll be flying on one of the most sophisticated and safe airliners of today, regardless of the aircraft.(unless your flying an old GA aircraft) As for the mechanical portion of the plane, they are built so that the backups for the plane's systems have backups and even have backups, so don't worry, also, today's pilots are trained in every situation they can think of. you will be fine, enjoy your trip. What are the reasons to not be scared of a plane crash?
Driving to the airport is umpteen times more dodgy than flying.

I fly medium sized corporate things around the UK, and have total trust in the well-maintained craft.

The odd things such as a dud indicator bulb, a mysterious rattle (which turned out to be a pepsi can), is all that I get.

It would be nice to have something untoward happen, to test me a bit, but everything always goes as smooth as silk.

Anyway, It is the safest method of transport, it is just that on the very rare occasion that 'planes crash, it makes big news, as it is so rare.

Happy flights

Bob
You SHOULD be scared of a plane crash. Just don't let it make you too scared to fly.

Simple.
Hey there,

First thing first; air travel is the safest way to travel. Do you get scared of being in a car? Do you get scared when you take public transport? Do you get scared when you walk? If your answer to all of these is 'no', then there is no reason to worry about air travel.

Every day there are in excess of 100,000 flights, that all reach their destination safely. It is only 1 or 2 flights every year that crash and involve fatalities.

Mechanical errors are not always going to cause a crash. For example, I was on a flight where the main landing gear doors did not close. That was a mechanical issue, but we simply retracted the gear and returned to the airport.

If you are worried about crashing when you are on-board, always remember to:

+ Bring on-board a good book and/or magazines(even if there is an entertainment system)

+ Bring on-board an iPod or other music player. I always find it calmer to be listening to music during take-off/landing etc.

+ Remember the flight attendants and pilots. They are trained to do this and do this for a living. They are highly trained.

I hope you enjoy your flight and I wish you the best of luck with conquering your fears

I hope I helped :-)
No reason to be worried, unless the aircraft mechanic is not professional
i fugure your fear isnt of crashing in the plane but dying in one. dont worry like what i just read planes a really safe, a very low percentage of people die due to plane related activities. even the people that work with them, but accidents do happen. just keep remembering flying is fun, its a really good time and you could die at anytime even if you were on the ground, being in the air is actually safer. how many times are you around cars, at gas stations, on a train, in your house next to a street, in an area where something poisonous could be. just stop worrying about things that are generally out of your control, unless of course you want to live in a plastic bubble, then you'll probably suffocate...lol.. just relax, flying is safer than driving. be cool have fun.
There are none, in fact, you'll probably die, every person that has been killed in a crash thought that it could NEVER HAPPEN TO THEM!!

You will certainly die on your next flight....umm, can I have your iPod?
Because crashes are extremely rare, and those that are caused by a mechanical failure are the rarest of them all.
