Also, what is so wrong with only checking arabs at airports instead of grannies and little kids that don't fit a terrorist/plane hijacker profile? How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?Hijacking is extremely rare today, and Arabs are no more likely to engage in it than anyone else, especially when the entire history of hijackings (which were very fashionable about 40 years ago) is examined.
Profiling works very well, but it is also very politically incorrect. In the United States, political correctness takes precedence. In places like Israel, safety takes precedence. This is not to say that profiling does not produce false positives or negatives, but when properly carried out it's very reliable and efficient. The very extensive El-Al type of security is not practical for large airlines, though (El Al has only a few flights each day, so it can afford to spend a lot of time on each of them). How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?
True that many hijackings weren't done by Arabs, until the mid 90's, when they pretty much took over the reigns of aircraft piracy.
It's not so much hijacking anymore, it's blowing the airplane up while in flight. Since Arabs seem to love the idea of dying for the cause, they now pose the greatest risk. But, as mentioned above, it wouldn't be "nice" to single out people because of their ethnicity. So, we will keep checking the grannies and kids so we don't offend any one group of people. How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?Because of sensationalist American media blowing it out of proportion.
There have been hundreds of hijackings over the past few decades, the vast majority by non-Arabs. But the only ones that America actually cares about were done by Arabs in 2001.
Basically a combination of ignorance, racism and fear of the "other".How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?
Good question.
1. Because there ususally is a muslim arab involved.
2. We can't check them because it wouldn't be politically correct and might offend them; therefore the DHS, DOT, etc. (going back to Norm Mineta) said "we will not profile". It was/is far more important to them (the government) to be unoffensive to certain people that protect its citizens. How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?BTW, Happy Anniversary! ("D. B. Cooper is the name attributed to a man who hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft in the United States on November 24, 1971, received US$200,000[1] in ransom, and parachuted from the plane.")
I'm sorry to say because that is who is doing it now back in the day it was people wanting to go to Cuba. In a few years it will be some other group such as left handed bagpipe technicians who have an axe to grind and think that this is the quickest way to get in the news for their cause. How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?
If an Arab is a Muslim and a true one he wouldn't take the lives of innocent people who have done nothing for their own gain because in Islam it is not allowed to kill people without any proper reason.
PC has run amok. How come that any time that you hear of a plane hijacking, there is always an arab involved?
i think as a country were so afraid of offending ppl and breaching a terrorsists human rights. Its so PC these days and its so wrong
