What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?

I live in NJ, and my friend told me there is going to be a meteor shower the day that i leave for Germany. Im not flying from here to Germany, im going to Florida first, then flying from there to Germany. My dad keeps telling me not to worry but the thought of being on a plane during a meteor shower is a little scary to me. So is it possible for the plane to get hit by a meteor? Im scared!!What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?Any meteors that you will likely encounter on your flight will burn up long before they reach the cruising altitude for civilian aircraft.

Not to mention that pretty much every meteor is an object the size of a grain of sand entering the Atmosphere.

Don't worry.

Sit back and enjoy the show! You're going to have one of the best seats on the planet! What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?
While entirely possible for an aircraft to be hit by a meteoroid, the odds against such an occurrence are staggeringly high, so you shouldn't be worried. The vast majority of meteoroids that encounter the Earth are about the same size as a grain of rice, and typically burn up in the atmosphere at altitudes above 45 kilometres (in comparison, your typical jet airliner cruises at about 10km altitude). Larger meteoroids that can survive deep into the atmosphere (or even to the ground) are astonishingly rare. At this point, there has never been a recorded incident of an aircraft being struck by a meteoroid. What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower? Not much will happen.

Meteors are the streaks of light caused when very small pieces of debris burn up in our atmosphere around 85 km altitude.

Planes fly between 6 and 20 km altitude.

The chance the plane will be hit by a meteor is about the same as the chance your car will be hit by one.

I'm guessing from your question that you don't really know what a meteor shower is. Its simply when more dust and small particles enter our atmosphere than average.

A typical piece of debris that creates a meteor is about the size of a pea - a large one is the size of a golf ball.

About 99.9999% of all meteors burn up into ashes long before they get anywhere close to a plane. What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?
Well, ..., there is a very low probability that any of the meteors will punch through the atmosphere to the plane. Most Meteors are about the size of sands grains and burn up far above the earth on the thermosphere. On rare occasions to they ever make it to earth. So you'll be safe. Don't be afraid to enjoy your flight. What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?Meteors mostly burn up somewhere above 40 miles up. Only a few larger pieces make it to the ground. At the altitude airplanes fly, the chance of your plane being hit is about the same as your house being hit - very, very slim. What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?
the chances are about the same of it hitting your plane as it hitting your house. most meteors burn up before they get as far down as the elevation where planes fly. after all most meteors are the size of dust specks. What happens if your on a plane during a meteor shower?
As far as I know, there has never been a recorded case of a plane getting hit by a meteor.
