Do you have to wait till the plane has landed in the sea or on land before you are allowed to exit it?

Obviously when a plan crash lands, anything not tied down are flung everywhere - including people.



Plus if you ran for the door you'd start a stampede and panic everyone.



Also opening the door would make klanding safely harder.



So it's best to stay strapped in, using the brace position until instructed to leave by your hostess. I suppose you could open the door at 30,000 ft - people would disappear out of the door fairly quickly I should imagine.
