Can I take snacks in my briefcase on board a plane?

Haven't flown in years just wondering if I am allowed to take a candy bar or crackers in my briefcase on board the plane. With so many restrictions I just wondered. yes you can. I remember flying to U.K once and i packed snacks and they were totally okay with it. As a matter of fact, I would highly recommend that you do so. Due to recent cutbacks at many airlines, they don't offer anything much in the way of snacks.
