How long must a plane rest before flying again?

Basically im flying out on Saturday. A 767 - 300 ER Plane flight is 10 Hours from Seychelles to England, get to England , then rests an hour and 30 mins in england then flies back the 10 hour flight. Is that safe and legal?

Aircraft don't make money sitting on the ground. They only make money when they fly, so airlines need to keep them flying as much as possible. Unlike people, aircraft don't get tired from a long flight so they don't need a rest. The plane will be pulled out of service longer if something needs to be repaired or if scheduled maintenance is due.

so for as long as it takes to get all the passengers off the last flight, clean the plane, re-fuel the plane, start boarding for the new flight and the pilots complete the pre-flight checklist, the plane is off the ground again!



here in Australia, most domestic flights are off the ground again in 45 minutes and most international flights in 2 hours....thats minimum times anyway.

They refuel, get ice, do a quick cleanup and trade passengers and get off the ground again as soon as possible! You should remember that most flights are either going to or coming from a hub. That means they have crew and equipment to make repairs and do routine maintenence available at the beginning or end of every flight. Also it is the duty of the First Officer to deplane and do a thorough walk around check of the aircraft every time before take off.
