What documentation do I need to send a minor on a plane alone?

I am sending my 8 year old on a plane trip alone. Do I need any documentation when I go to check him in?What documentation do I need to send a minor on a plane alone? At minimum you need your own and his identification. As he's only 8, I suspect his passport or birth cert are the most likely pieces of paper he has.

If his other parent is not with you at the airport, you may also need their consent, depending on whether he's crossing any borders and/or the airline's own policies. If you do bring a letter from his other parent, try to also bring a photocopy of a document with an official signature, such as a passport or driver's license.

Most important is to check with the airline itself, as they may ask you for more or less, depending on where he's flying. What documentation do I need to send a minor on a plane alone?i would pay a fee fill out some paperwork and have ur 8 yrs old travel as a "umnr" unaccompany minor. it's quite popular during kids' vacation and summer travel and once u paid the appropriate svc fee the airline is in charge of your minor from pt a to pt b. definately accompany him to check-in on the counter in person and the airline will have u fill out paper work and it will give authroization on whom to pick him/her up upon arrival. flight attendant will take charge of ur child and he will be kept occupied; u will be able to see him off on the flight and be allow to escort him and be witness to see him get on the plane, first. how's that for a piece of mind!
