New York to Rio(Brazil)....I'm always in the window seat boxed in by sleeping parents and older sister sits in next row(shes in high school). I'm shy/embarrassed about having to make scene about going on the plane.How can I avoid having to use the bathroom during a long plane trip?You can't fight nature. Everyone has to go, even on a plane.



Maybe the plane won't be full and you can ask for an aisle seat when you check in.



Don't be shy, that's a long flight and a lot of people will be moving around just for the activity.



Don't drink a few hours before the flight and use the bathroom at the terminal just before you board.

Just remember holding yourself back from going to the bathroom is extremely bad for your kidneys and not something to be recommended. It is not like going to the bathroom is anything odd. It is perfectly natural. EVERYONE in the entire world pees.

EDIT do not eat a lot of dry or salty stuff all that does is make you thirsty and you want to drink more and if you do not drink on a plane you will become extremely deyhdrated and that will also be bad for you.

you're only shy because someone made you that way. I personally would whip it out and spray down the entire bathroom, maybe fart a couple times when leaving so the smell follows me out the door.
I travel a lot on planes and HATE asking people to get up for me to use the bathroom. To avoid this, I try to always book the aisle seat. If I can't get that I try not to drink a lot of water the day I'm flying, and then rehydrate really well after the plane ride. It's not going to damage your kidneys if you avoid liquid for half a day. I also run to the the bathroom right when they start boarding before I get on the plane!How can I avoid having to use the bathroom during a long plane trip?

Ask to sit in the aisle seat. dont drink much fluids before or during the trip.
If you eat something salty, like crisps, it would help.
