How can I get plane tickets as cheap as possible?

I need to get to Jacksonville Florida, from Newcastle, England on the 23rd April, by spending as little as possible. I also don't have time to get a really long flight that goes via 12 other places though. Does anyone have any tips for finding some really good deals on plane tickets? They would be very much appreciated.

My favorite website for good ticket prices is Kayak, http://www.kayak.com. They compare the prices from a TON of airlines and will even calculate connections across different carriers for you to find the best price. I had to get a ticket from Houston to South Korea about a week beforehand; they found me a pretty good price across two different airlines that got me there with only one stop. Not bad. Best of all, it's free, and you're not bound to purchase anything like you are with some other sites. Give it a shot.



Oh, and keep in mind that with some of the discount carriers, like Southwest and RyanAir, you'll need to check their own individual websites. They don't allow price checking sites like Kayak to index them.How can I get plane tickets as cheap as possible?
Try Priceline.com. They have a "name your own price" option, so you might want to try that. Cheapoair.com also has good fares.
