How do you get compensation for damaged goods on a plane flight when you don't have a reciept for the item?

I was one of the last to board the plane. All of the overhead storage space was full. They told me I had to leave my bag at the end of the ramp right where you step onto the plane. I thought they were just going to set it inside like they have done before. But they put it in the belly of the plane.

They want a reciept, but I dont have it. It was with US AIRWAYS.

Whats the max refund?

Anyone have experience with this? How do you get compensation for damaged goods on a plane flight when you don't have a reciept for the item?good luck with that...the airline will give you an 'estimated' value of your item, not to exceed $2500. You have to prove it was yours, the value (you don't really need a reciept, they tell you that to get rid of you.) do you have a picture of you and the item ???

Don't talk to the airline at the airport, do it through the 'head' office...send a certified letter to the head office, detailing all you lost, what it cost, etc...then wait...if you don't get the reciept back or they deny your claim, take them to small claims court, you can do that yourself...they will settle to shut you up.
