If you are short sighted, are you still allowed to fly a plane?

i'm not colour blind, but I am short sighted.

It's only slight short-sightedness, but I was wondering if this is one of the restrictions on flying a plane.

Looks as if you are in the UK, or one of the commonwealth countries. Aviation regulations vary, so you should contact the local civil aviation authorities to be sure.



in the US, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) allow people with vision corrected for near-sightedness or far-sightedness, and such complications as astigmatism, to become licensed pilots. However, you must still pass a flight surgeoun's examination of your vision, wearing glasses or contacts. Certain visual impairments will prevent pilot aspirants from passing.

If you can correct it with either glasses or contacts you'll be just fine.
