i'm not colour blind, but I am short sighted.
It's only slight short-sightedness, but I was wondering if this is one of the restrictions on flying a plane.

And yes, if your vision is correctable to 20-30 in one eye, you can get your flight medical.
Have fun.If you are short sighted, are you still allowed to fly a plane?
Looks as if you are in the UK, or one of the commonwealth countries. Aviation regulations vary, so you should contact the local civil aviation authorities to be sure.
in the US, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) allow people with vision corrected for near-sightedness or far-sightedness, and such complications as astigmatism, to become licensed pilots. However, you must still pass a flight surgeoun's examination of your vision, wearing glasses or contacts. Certain visual impairments will prevent pilot aspirants from passing.
Flying is great fun, I've been licensed since 1977 - and I wear glasses! If you are short sighted, are you still allowed to fly a plane?20/20If you are short sighted, are you still allowed to fly a plane?
If you can correct it with either glasses or contacts you'll be just fine. The requirements state that you must have 20/40 vision with or without glasses or contacts. If you are short sighted, are you still allowed to fly a plane?Sure. I wear rather thick glasses and had no trouble getting my pilot license. Well, no sight-related trouble :-)
If you want to be a military pilot it will be harder; they get so many applicants they can afford to only take ones with perfect vision to start.
