I'm flying the first time in my life on June the 1st and I don't have any earthly idea what I can and can't take so if you can help me please do.... I will be taking my cellphone though and it has flight mode what is it? Can I have my phone with me on the plane can I have it on?What is flight mode on a cellphone? It will stay on to look at your phone book and other info, but not make any calls. Your not allowed to make calls in flight or have phone in active mode. This site is helpful. You are allowed to take your phone on the flight with you, however they request that the it be turned off during the flight. The flight mode on phones just stops the phone from searching for a signal. Make sure you read all of the regulations regarding what items you can and can't take on the flight with you to avoid having restricted items taken away from you, and to save you time. Good luck!!
