If I buy a plane ticket and the price drops can I get the difference back?

If I buy my plane ticket and the price drops but I haven't traveled yet, do airlines refund the difference or do I just have to eat it? Orbitz is one of the major online travel agencies that has a policy of this sort -- if you buy a ticket from them and then someone else buys the same ticket for less, then you will get the difference back from them. Most airlines that I have dealt with, Jet-blue and Usair especially, will give you a voucher towards travel within the next twelve months. They have never charged me a fee to do this and it has saved me lots of money over the past few years. You can rebook with some airlines.
